OUR MISSION
MacMillan Films produces thoughtful, cinematic programming that instructs and inspires. Our core mission is to create productions that showcase democratic values and the enduring benefits of a pluralist society. Because so much of modern thought stems from the “golden era” of 5th-century democratic Athens, our catalog focuses heavily on ancient Greek culture, art, philosophy, and classical drama.
The Classical Drama Educational Anthology
We are currently embarking on a multi-year initiative to produce authentic, filmed stagings of all 27 extant ancient Greek dramas. By translating these foundational texts from the page to the screen, we bridge the gap between classical literature and modern comprehension, bringing the cultural cornerstones of the Athenian Golden Age to today’s audiences.
Ultimately, these productions provide universities, industry partners, and the general public with vital access to essential Western thought, empowering viewers to fully participate in that great experiment called democracy.
Support Our Work
To help fund this multi-year initiative, MacMillan Films is proud to partner with Fractured Atlas. If you would like to support the staging and visibility of these foundational texts, you can make a tax-deductible contribution through our official fiscal sponsorship portal.
